This semi detached house has had a new boiler fitted - a Vitodens 100 by Viessmann and a Vitosol 200 solar panel along with a thermal store. The requirements for hot water meant that a slightly smaller 20 tube panel could be fitted, and this would still meet the heating needs. Click on the picture to enlarge. This is what Fred had to say after having run the system for some time - Hi Hugh, I thought I would give you an update on the solar heating system you fitted last year. The system is going great, very responsive and heats the radiators much quicker than before. The solar side has also done very well this year, often water hits 60 degrees during the summer, sometimes I can't use it all up. I have turned into a right Eco Warrior and I try to use electricity and the hot water efficiently. eg. Use washing machine with a hot feed on a timer on hot days, I fill the kettle with warm water etc. I've done my bathroom suite up with a new shower bath, fantastic with the full pressure water. Best of all, I received a D/D update on my gas and electricity bill in the spring from Scottish Power- The budget was cut to £30 per month for gas & electric together for this year, unbelievable. Even better, last week I got an update from Scottish Power, I'm £176 in credit over spring & summer. I used very little gas to heat the water over the whole summer even though it was lousy weather. So next budget might bring further cuts. I'll keep you posted on how things are going. I can't thank you enough for the quality system you fitted and the service you provided. Yours sincerely Fred Kelly, Whitburn
